I have just returned from a vacation to southern California to visit my parents, daughter and grandchildren. I also had an opportunity to see my two closest friends, both of whom are in their early 40’s. They showered me with compliments+suggestions, and I remembered why they’re so special to me. Both women tell it like it is. They went on to say “We love your blonde hair” – “You look like you’ve lost weight and toned your legs” – “There’s no way you’re turning 55”.
Both ladies know that I believe in positive thinking and the power of prayer. They have watched me grow and learn the last 15 years and know that this routine works for me. What they don’t know is I keep an arsenal of products at home that assist me in keeping young at 55.
In my bathroom alone you will find scores of lotions, potions, balms, toners, and erasers that I use religiously. Some of these items include:
Ø Gentle Moisturizing Facial Hair Removal
Ø Facial Hair Growth Inhibitor
Ø Rejuvenation Toner
Ø Apricot Scrub for the Face
Ø Skin Eternal Serum w/Vitamin C
Ø Deep Crease Concentrate
Ø Line & Wrinkle Corrector
Ø Hand Rescue Balm
Ø Neo-retinol line Plumper
Ø Renew & Protect Moisturizing Body Lotion
Ø Whitening Toothpaste
Ø Extra Fullness Hair Gel
Not to mention an assortment of vitamins and herbs I take on a daily basis…plus calcium & magnesium with zinc in the evening time. I’ve got it down to a science!
I scrub, I lotion, I pamper with care. I look at my face in the mirror and although there may be lines from stress, worry, disappointment and failure there still remains a glow in my eyes. My friends and family will find joy, laughter, hope, and truth between the lines (pun intended).
I carry an AARP card – people call me Ma’am and no longer Miss. Young men in their 40’s and 50’s don’t give me a second glance when they see I sport a turkey neck. But I’m ok with that. I’ve had a glorious 55 years and look forward to living far into my 90’s to share stories with my great grandchildren. I believe I would feel this very same way even if I didn’t fill my cart at the local drug store, or order like crazy from my Avon catalog. It’s all a matter of attitude, and Sister Girlfriend, I’m all over it.
